I am currently studying Art and Design, Textiles and Psychology for my A-level subjects. I have completed two projects for both my AS Art and Textiles course and I am now planning on doing the same for my A2 year.
For my Art project I created two very different pieces of work, which were based on my chosen theme of “illusions.” My first piece of work was based on illusions of the eye; how people change their appearance to look a certain way. I showed this in my work by creating a canvas painting that was a hybrid of different striking faces.
My second piece was heavily inspired by our residential visit to Venice, as I went onto looking at illusions in the reflections created in the waters of Venice. I did this by making a large batik, which I then worked onto using acrylic paints.
For my AS Textiles project, I created a playsuit which was based on my chosen theme of “Elizabethan Elegance”, I did this by using a range of different decorative techniques and heavily adapting a pattern to create my own garment.
I presented both my AS Art and Textiles work at the Art and Textiles Viewing Evening, where my work was displayed for the general public to see.
For my A2 Art project, I have chosen the theme “Nightmares” and how hidden meanings of fairy tales can turn them into something much more frightening. For my final piece, I have made a head to scare children out of clay which I have applied Mod-Roc onto. As my second unit for A2 Art I have decided to look at children’s obsessions with their fears and their fears becoming their nightmares and overpowering their life, for my final piece I will be creating a painting on canvas.
For my AS Textiles project I have chosen the theme “India” and will be making a dress inspired by Indian culture and clothing but with aspects of western fashion added to it.
I have aspirations to become a fashion designer to make clothes for people and for them to feel good when wearing my garments,I think I have the ability and potential to succeed in the fashion industry and would like to study fashion at Manchester metropolitan university in order to further my knowledge and understanding of fashion.
